Beautification encompasses a holistic approach to enhancing your natural features, aiming not only to amplify beauty but also to align your external appearance with your inner confidence. This transformative journey involves a variety of treatments and practices designed to refine and highlight individual beauty, fostering a sense of harmony and self-assurance.
The procedure varies with the filler your Practitioner will use, the part of the body to be treated, and your medical history. Here are some general guidelines about what you can expect:
– Most filler treatments take between 15 and 30 minutes and require one office visit.
– Before getting the injections, you may need ice, an anaesthetic applied to the skin, or a nerve block (an injection). This varies with the filler and area to be treated. Lips often require a local anaesthetic.
– Your practitioner will inject the filler into the area, often giving you several injections to produce the best results.
You may feel a stinging or burning sensation as the filler is injected and sometime a popping sensation. This sensation is only at the time of injection and will resolved after the procedure.
– A few fillers require allergy testing to make sure you do not have an allergic reaction.
– If you need allergy testing, you must wait for the results from the allergy test before you can get the filler.
You may have some discomfort, swelling and bruising around the area treated; this should disappear within a few days.
If you notice any areas of skin that become pale or grey in colour or if you are experiencing ongoing and worsening pain, you should seek immediate advice from the clinic – this could be a sign that a nearby blood vessel has been blocked. This is a very rare but potentially serious complication and treatment may be needed urgently.
Avoid rubbing the areas of the face that have been injected for 24 hours; this includes having facials or facial massage.
There is no need to massage following dermal filler treatment, you can expect any filler related lumps to settle over the next 4 weeks (in some circumstances this may take longer). If a lump is not resolving or if you are distressed by the nature of these lumps, please seek advice.
Avoid applying make-up directly to the injection sites for 24 hours; you may apply makeup to the other areas of your face.
– Wait until the next day to exercise or do any other strenuous activity.
– Stay out of the sun and do not use a tanning bed or other type of indoor tanning.
– Avoid touching the treated area for three days, unless you receive instructions to massage the area.
– One filler, poly-L-lactic acid, requires you to gently massage the treated area for about 5 minutes several times a day for 1 to 2 weeks. Your dermatologist will tell you if you need to massage the area.
This also varies with the filler. Most fillers fill the skin, so they produce immediate — or close to immediate — results. A filler also can stimulate your body to produce collagen, but this takes time. It usually takes around 6-8 weeks to see you expected result to settle.
Most fillers offer temporary results and require repeat treatments to maintain the results.
Temporary fillers offer one key advantage. These can be injected as needed to replace lost fullness. This is advantageous because no matter what we do, our skin continues to age.
You should ask your practitioner how long the recommended filler should last in the area you want treated.
If you get a temporary filler, you can usually have another treatment when the signs of aging reappear.
After receiving filler injections, some patients have minor, temporary side effects where they were injected. You may have:
– Redness
– Swelling
– Tenderness
– Bruising (occasionally)
These side effects tend to clear within 7 to 14 days — if not earlier.
Serious side effects are more likely when the person injecting the filler does not have adequate medical training and experience. To protect your health, make sure your clinician is safe. Clinicians at Selfie Assured Aesthetics are all registered, trained and insured health care professionals.
If considering other provider there is guidance on the NHS website and JCCP website.
When fillers are injected in a non-medical setting or by an inexperienced provider, reports of more serious side effects increase dramatically. These side effects include:
Blocked blood vessels in the face, which can cause tissue death or permanent blindness.
– Lumps
– Ridges.
– Over-filled areas.
– Allergic reaction.
– Skin discoloration.
– Infection.
– Severe swelling
If you’ve had dermal fillers and you’re not happy with the results, talk to your practitioner at the clinic where you were treated.
If you have problems, such as lumpiness, follow any aftercare advice you were given by your practitioner, or contact them for advice about what to do.
See your GP if you have complications that need medical attention, or go to your nearest accident and emergency (A&E) if you have an urgent medical issue.
You can report side effects of dermal fillers through the Yellow Card Scheme website. By reporting side effects, you’re providing valuable information about the safety of the product used.
